In August 2025, after months of careful planning and construction, the dental university in Switzerland Bern, zmk bern launched its first-ever mobile dental clinic – a decommissioned ambulance transformed into a fully self-sufficient treatment and screening unit. XO CARE is proud to have contributed to this groundbreaking project by sponsoring the dental unit onboard.
This mobile clinic features a state-of-the-art XO CARE dental unit for treatments, additional folding chairs for efficient screenings, and advanced technical features including lithium batteries, water tanks, and air conditioning for complete daily autonomy.
The vehicle, known as the Zahnmobil, is designed to serve multiple purposes: conducting school dental screenings, providing mobile dental care, and supporting the First Swiss Oral Health Study (SMGS • 1). Starting from the 2026/2027 school year, it will be used to carry out annual screenings in Bern’s primary schools. In the future, it will also enable on-site dental treatments, particularly in gerodontology.
The Zahnmobil was built by Tagzone in Wil (SG), a company specializing in emergency vehicle conversions. A Mercedes Sprinter, approximately eight years old, was completely overhauled and repurposed for its new role.
