Professionally, Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski has a passion for endodontics and digital prosthetics with a focus on occlusion, and he quickly learned that good ergonomics is essential to achieve good results in this field of work. It sparked his interest in creating a dental clinic with ergonomics and innovation as fundamental design principles.
That is why he decided to fit the clinic with XO FLEX dental units.
An eye for dental ergonomics
When Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski started working in dentistry, the working postures were very different. The patient and dentist were sitting, and the assistant was standing and only partially present during treatments. Not surprisingly, he quickly started suffering from back pains. He then began to position the patients lying down to get a better working position and started working 4-handed. And based on his own rewarding experiences, he decided to pass on his insights.
“That’s when I started to coach and teach other dentists. One of my key messages was that it is not the dentist who should adapt to get a comfortable working position. It’s the equipment that should be adjusted to create a comfortable working position,” he says.
Those were the first steps in creating what is now a highly ergonomic dental clinic with optimum working conditions for practitioners and maximum patient comfort.
“Nothing equals XO CARE dental units,” Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski explains
and continues: “They are very reliable. It is worthwhile investing in an XO CARE unit with a long-term perspective, and the quality of work is incomparable.”

Digital dental photography rhymes with digital dental unit
Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski got his first camera when he was eight, and photography became a lifelong passion for him. Years later, he saw professional potential in digital photography and started to explore how it could be applied in dentistry. “I realized there was a great demand from dentists and that they were afraid to take on this new technology, so I decided to create courses about photography and how to adapt it in dentistry,” he says.
In late February, XO Partner ESDENT hosted a dental training about dental photography with Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski as the instructor and the XO FLEX and the digital XO FLOW as the units used in the course.
The participants learned how digital images can be used for aesthetic dentistry, how to work in a healthy position at the unit, and how to benefit from the opportunities digital dental equipment offers. As the course participants took turns in acting as patients, they also got a chance to experience the XO FLEX and XO FLOW units from a patient’s point of view.
One of the great innovations in dentistry is the ability to connect different kinds of equipment with the dental unit.
In Dr. Piotr Skrzyszewski’s opinion – and with reference to the new digital XO FLOW unit – one of the most important trends in dentistry is digitalization. He sees ongoing and continuous development of digital solutions happening at full speed:
“Digital dentistry is in full development, and there is no going back.”
